2026 Campus Action Plan
University of Maryland's 2026 Action Plan, developed by the TerpsVote Coalition every two years, is intended to be a dynamic documentation of efforts to institutionalize and increase nonpartisan civic learning, political engagement, and voter participation. Our Action Plan is utilized for campus-wide recognition from national entities and helps ensure UMD meets state and federal requirement related to voter information.

UMD Campus Surveys
The University of Maryland Student Survey is an annual survey administered by the CAWG Assessing Campus Experiences Subgroup (ACES). The Campus Assessment Working Group (CAWG) was created in 1996 and is a deliberate blending of the assessment and quality agendas. CAWG is charged with developing a campus "Culture of Evidence" in which data and assessment play a key role in campus decision making.
Student Voting Perceptions 2018
This Campus Assessment Working Group (CAWG) snapshot reports findings on junior and senior
students’ perceptions regarding voting in the 2018 general election. The data represent results from the University of Maryland Student Survey (UMSS), an annual survey administered by the CAWG Assessing Campus Experiences Subgroup (ACES). Respondents completed the survey during the 2019 spring semester in Professional Writing courses.
Junior and Senior Students’ Perceptions of the 2020 Presidential Election
This report was written by the Campus Assessment Working Group (CAWG) ACES subcommittee. The 2021 University of Maryland Student Survey (UMSS 21) was administered online from March 22 - April 9, 2021, to juniors and seniors enrolled in Professional Writing courses. This report summarizes initial findings on students’ perceptions of the 2020 presidential election.
Juniors and Seniors’ Perceptions of the 2022 Midterm Election
This report was written by the Campus Assessment Working Group (CAWG) ACES subcommittee. The 2023 University of Maryland Student Survey (UMSS23) was administered online from March 6 to March 24, 2023, to juniors and seniors enrolled in Professional Writing courses. This report summarizes respondents’ perceptions of the 2022 midterm election and their opinions on civic engagement more broadly. In March 2023, 1,119 students completed the survey (30% of all students enrolled in Professional Writing courses).
UMD Student Survey
This report summarizes survey results pertaining to voting and civic engagement among UMD students. The UMD Student Survey was administered online to UMD degree seeking students age 18 or older who are U.S. citizens.
